Stereo MC's

It is our great pleasure to share with you the story of our meeting with Stereo MC’s and Nova TV’s interview with them, during which Carel Translations provided interpreting from English to Bulgarian and vice versa.

The musicians from the legendary British band arrived in Bulgaria around noon on 12 July to perform at Hello! Ficosota Festival in Shumen later that evening.

A few days prior, All Channels Communication Group, in charge of event management for the Festival, had contacted us requesting that we handle the interpreting from English to Bulgarian and vice versa during Nova TVs short interview with Stereo MC’s, scheduled to take place immediately after their landing at Varna Airport at about 12.30 on 12 July.

Stereo MC’s have been to our country many times in the past few years and, much to the joy of their Bulgarian fans, they keep coming back! The reason for their visit this time was their special performance at Hello! Ficosota Festival in Shumen, organized by Ficosota in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the company’s founding. The Festival brought together over 15 thousand music fans and many artists of various genres.

Stereo MC’s are a British electronic dance band, which formed in 1985 in London, England. Among their greatest worldwide hits are Connected (1992), Step it up (1992), Deep down & dirty (2001), On 33 (1989), Lost in music (1991), Elevate my mind (1990), Black Gold (2008) and many more.

In my capacity as an interpreter, not to mention a years-long fan of Stereo MC’s, it was a huge pleasure to be one of the first people to greet the band upon their arrival in Bulgaria last Saturday.

As someone who grew up with the music of the 90s – and a lifelong fan of electronic music as well – to get a chance to rub shoulders with world stars like Stereo MCs was an unforgettable experience (to put it mildly).

I was especially honoured and excited to meet and talk in person with the band’s front man Rob Birch – an incredibly down-to-earth, friendly and charismatic person, who said during the interview that what they like most and what keeps them coming back to Bulgaria is the great energy of the people here.
